Kavalan distillery is located in Yilan County in Taiwan. It’s making ahuge splash in the whisky world, racking up loads of awards and getting nodsfrom some of the top whisky connoisseurs worldwide.

Kavalan Concertmaster single malt whisky is the first matured in specially selected American oak cask and then finished in Ruby Port, Tawny Port, and Vintage Port casks. It’s yet another unique cask and aging process from Kavalan. That marrying in the barriques mellows the flavours and adds indefinable smoothness to the whisky. It is rich bodied with natural sweetness and complexity.

 

Tasting Notes: 

Aromas of mixed berry jam and baking spices such as clove and all spice to begin with followed by more fruit and spice. The palate gets a brief reprieve on these notes on the mid-palate with vanilla, wet tobacco, and honey,but then reverts back to finish with more spices and berries. With a touch of water or on ice, a more complex flavor, and richness of flavor, is apparent.
