Type: Single Malt Whisky
Country: Speyside, Scotland
Size: 700ml
ABV%: 40.0%
Glenfiddichis a family owned distillery, and despite their 10 million liters produced annually, they warehouse all whisky on site. The world's most awarded Scotch Whisky, Glenfiddich 12 Year Old is the pioneer of the single malts.
This signature single malt category is matured in the finest Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks and uniquely married in oak tuns for a beautifully balanced noseand refreshingly complex flavour.
Additionally, they have their own cooperage and have their own bottling plant for their distinctive three cornered bottles. The 12 Year Old is a benchmark, not only for Glenfiddich, but for Speyside whiskies in general.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Golden caramel.
Nose: The sherry is very prominent and is the first aroma to make it’s way out of the glass. Meandering out on their own time schedule are some notes of caramel, malt, strawberries, red licorice, sugar, light or chard fruit and a bit of vanilla.
Palate: Very smooth with pears and fresh red apples coming up first. Malt leads the second wave with sherry, honey, dessert spice and just a bit of oak and burnt sugar.
Finish: Pears and honey slowly fades to soft malt and oak one a long and pleasant finish.
