Grape variety: 100% Viognier
Country: France
Region: Rhone
Vintage: 2015
Size: 750ml
Body: Full-Bodied
Points: 99 Wine Advocate
Rated 99 Points by The Wine Advocate, the 2015 Guigal "La Doriane" Condrieu is as close as to perfection as you can get. This profound effort is among the top Condrieu ever produced and will closely compete to the 100-point 2010 which has quickly disappeared from the market.
Fans of Condrieu already know that in exceptional vintages like 2015, the wines can reachsublime heights. This is echoed in Jeb Dunnuck’s assessment that this bottling“need to be tasted to be believed.”
Guigal is the most famous producer in Côte Rôtie and one of the finest in the Rhône Valley. LaDoriane being its most coveted white is harvested from the best vineyards in Condrieu including Côtes Chatillon - a site that delivers the wine its unique mineral core. Made from Viognier, a rare, sensitive grape variety that was originally Dalmatian, wines made in the Condrieu appellation have garnered an international reputation amongst wine connoisseurs. It is an outstanding La Doriane not to be missed!
Tasting Notes: Brilliant clear pale golden yellow. White flowers, apricot, white peaches. Intensely powerful and elegant aromas.Freshness, round, rich and full-bodied. Fully expressive of the terroir. Great finesse and freshness. A pleasant light acidity is well balanced with round fleshy fruitiness.
“Easily one of the greatest Condrieu I’ve ever tasted is the 2015 Condrieu La Doriane. A wine that needs to be tasted to be believed, it possesses a huge nose of toasted brioche, liquid rocks, apricot, flower oil and salty minerality. Unctuous, full-bodied, massively rich, yet also elegant and graceful, with beautiful freshness, enjoy this tour de force over the coming 4-5 years.” Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
